The only country that tattoo is illegal in, 50,000,000 the whole population.
An assumption that about 3 millions people have got tattoos already came up.
This rate is never low number considering Korea's population, and it means tattoo culture has spread so quickly to citizens.
Tattooing is not just for gangsters' possession anymore, this has become a 'character', 'fashion', 'art', and 'freedom of expressing oneself'.
We asked a 15 experienced tattoo artist 'Mr.cho' about how the current customers are.
Mr.cho: It's ridiculous that tattooing is still illegal, I have been in this field for 15 years, and I understand why tattoo in Korea is seen negative. but lots of generations have passed away, and things are way different from the past I think.
Mr.cho: the customers I usually meet are very normal such as students, salarymen, even 40's ~ 50's people. They never think tattoo is gangster's thing no more.
